简单的一个“go”在小说中出现频率非常高，而且用法灵活多样。以下摘录了“go”在小说中的主要用法。
一   go（linking verb）+adj.
这个搭配在小说中出现最为频繁，常被用来描绘人物的神态动作以及场景变化。《牛津高阶英语双语词典》（第9版，商务印书馆，2018年出版）对这一用法的解释如下：
go （linking verb）+adj.： to become different in a particular way
變成，变为，变得
词典中有这样的例句：
